Hi everyone! Today, I decided to blog about how I celebrated my 19th birthday last January 9 because as weird as it may sound, I really did not expect for me to be super happy during that day. Mygahd Moira tigilan mo ang pagiging emosyonal mo! haha! So here’s what went down.

I originally planned on seeing my best friends during my birthday and just chill and film fun videos with them. However, I already felt like it wasn’t going to push through as I wasn’t sure if our schedules would meet. And then, I suddenly read an announcement on Facebook regarding my enrollment last Sunday. I supposedly only needed to go to UP on January 10 but since my adviser couldn’t make it that day, I had to see her on January 9 instead. But I would still need to go back on January 10 for validation and for paying my tuition. When I read that announcement, I literally shouted “HA????” as it was so last minute and instead of hanging out with my friends, I needed to go to school on my birthday so that I can enroll?? Ang lungkot kasi na-hassle pa ko sa birthday ko! But I had to remind myself to stop being so dramatic about it because it’s not the end of the world, hello! So I just accepted that fact for I don’t want to get affected by petty reasons anymore.

It’s a good thing that my parents and I also went to a reunion with their college barkada at Timberland last Sunday because I finally got to go swimming again and forget about all the stress! Plus, masarap pa ang food! I got to unwind there and I realized that despite of all the things that weren’t going my way, my life is still blessed and amazing if only I looked at the brighter side of it.

When the clock struck midnight, I immediately greeted myself with a Happy Birthday and even faked a smile because I wanted to change my mindset and just be happy. My parents then came into my room to greet me too! And suddenly, a few friends also began to greet me online and I honestly did not expect that for I felt like they would be too lazy to actually wait for 12 midnight and already have a birthday message for me HAHA.

Then as planned, I went to school real early in the morning and I was surprisingly first in line! Himala! After that, I immediately went home and played The Last of Us all afternoon and I had no regrets! When it was already night time, I got ready for my mini birthday celebration.

Wow may pa-glam shot pa si ate gurl! HAHAHA.

The food was so freaking delicious that night and I had an amazing time hanging out with my cousins. Some family and friends also greeted me online and some even personally messaged me on Facebook and sobrang na-touch ako kasi swear, di ko talaga inexpect! Before I knew it, I went to bed with a happy heart and a smile that couldn’t be erased. 🙂

I really thought that I would be crying on my birthday (HAHA) because of all the things that were making me sad but instead, I was actually genuinely happy. Just when you think that your life is falling apart, it suddenly has a funny way of letting you know that it is totally not! I also realized that there really are a lot of people who care for me and who still remember me on my special day.

Remember, always look at the brighter side of life. It’s way more fun there. 😉

My Life Lately

“At the end of the day, you can either focus on what’s tearing you apart, or what’s holding you together.”

Hi everyone! How’s it going? I bet you’re doing fine. Meanwhile, here I am with a ~skin infection~ (tmi na if i say what it is HAHA) that hurts sooo bad from time to time to the point that it made me cry like a five year old a while ago and my grandma decided to bring me to the nearest clinic in town. Surprisingly, it was a really quick checkup, like five minutes? The doctor basically just gave me antibiotics/pain relievers to help with the pain.

Also, it’s really hard for me to come up with blog posts since I did start my YouTube channel and at the same time, I’m still a college student who studies/does school work every day. But feel free to suggest ideas on what I should blog about next! 🙂

And finally, this blog is turning a year old in around a week’s time! Ah, has it really been a year? Time flies so fast nowadays. Anyway, I’m planning to change my blog layout to “celebrate” this anniversary so stay tuned, I guess?

Sorry for the random post but that is all for now! May you have a blessed and fruitful week ahead!

Best Tip to Survive College!

Back when I was a freshie, I was excited to learn new things from my professors for I knew that they were the best of the best in the country (at least in my opinion). It’s already a given that they will teach you the subject, provide lectures, make you take exams (ugh) and what not, but my favorite thing that I always look forward to with them is when they randomly “make kwento” or tell us about any of their life experiences. Aside from it letting the class hours go by without the professor noticing (LOL), what I like about it is that it gives the students a chance to be taught life lessons which can be useful for us in the near future.

Out of all the life lessons I learned from them, one will always stand out to me. My Math 11 prof was the one who said it randomly in his class, and he basically just gave us the greatest tip ever on how to survive college. He said something like this:

“If you want to survive college, don’t do your best. Because, like the song says, sometimes you do your best but your best is not enough. Instead, do what is necessary.”

Now, we may all have different interpretations for it, but mine is this: When we focus on doing our best, sometimes, we tend to stress ourselves out more than we should. You don’t always have to push yourself to the limit because you might reach your breaking point over a small thing. Sure, put your heart into something, but never forget to take your brain with you. Instead of focusing on doing your best, focus on doing the task that is required. Baka kasi mapangunahan ka ng takot na di mo magawa best mo, kesa na sana, ginawa mo na kaagad yung task without overthinking it, para di ka na na-sstress, diba? This kind of thinking can really make your college life a lot lighter, so don’t stress out!

Well, that was just a tip on surviving college. However, thriving in college? I will never be exactly sure.

A Quick Getaway at Aruga, The Grove

Last weekend, my parents decided to grant my request of going on an overnight stay at Aruga, The Grove. I learned about it through Vern and Verniece’s blog post which you can check right here. It has always been a challenge for us to find a nice hotel we can have a quick getaway at inside the city, which is of good price but still possess a resort-like feel. And then suddenly one day, I find out about Aruga! It is a hotel/condo located at Pasig City, just in front of Tiendesitas. I immediately searched about it (and its rates), and fortunately, my parents also thought that it was a great idea to have an overnight stay there. Naawa na siguro sa ‘kin kasi patapos na bakasyon ko at nabubulok na ko sa bahay. Lol.

We arrived at Aruga at around 6 pm already! Our check-in was actually scheduled at 2 pm but we had to run an errand that same day and we also got lost because of a freaking flyover! We ended up all the way in Makati (paano??) and I was so stressed deep inside because I was worried if Aruga would decide to cancel our reservation since we didn’t show up on time! Thankfully, they did not do that and my parents and I finally got to rest after a hectic day. On the bright side, they have golf carts! I don’t know why but golf carts make me happy. hihi.

They have a few restaurants by the entrance which is always convenient for those staying at their hotel.

My dad booked the two bedroom suite for the weekend and our room was so cozy! It had a living area, dining area, COMPLETE kitchen, maid’s quarter (with T&B and laundry), guest’s bathroom, single bedroom, and a master’s bedroom with its own bathroom. Sobrang kumpleto diba?

By night time, we had guests (aka my mom and dad’s barkada) over and we ordered Chinese food for dinner. We just pretty much ~chilled~ the whole evening while my parents and their friends shared stories and played a few video games too. When it was time for them to leave, our guests actually told us that they already felt at home there and it was like we were all on a getaway at Fontana. haha!

The next day, I woke up at around 10 am (huhu) and my dad and I went for a quick swim at the pool. Surprisingly, there were only a few people swimming and I actually saw some guys who were probably in their late 40’s to early 60’s having a swimming lesson! The pool was also really big and they even had a kiddie pool too (which was equally as big).

I think I have mastered the art of sleeping while floating. haha!

Then it was time to check out! The picture above is me (duh) at their reception area.

Aruga also has a grocery store which is pretty convenient. Also, instead of the usual breakfast buffet at hotels, what they offered was breakfast vouchers in one of their restaurants. We chose The Gardens Brunch Cafe and I had a really healthy and delicious pasta. Yum!

A quick selfie before we left

And that concludes our quick overnight stay at Aruga, The Grove by Rockwell! I most probably will come back (and I will be early next time PRAMIS) and maybe with not just my parents, but with friends and family perhaps? Maybe even take over the kitchen and cook/bake something for the first time. haha! I had a really good time at Aruga and I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a getaway inside the city.

YouTube Fanfest Manila 2016: Part 2

Welcome to YTFF Manila 2016 Part 2! So let me tell you what went down last Friday night. The main show surprisingly started at 7 pm sharp. Because last year, I think they said that it was also gonna start at 7 pm but it actually began at 8:30 pm. Typical Filipino time haha! Anyway, at first, we were debating on whether or not we would go into the crowds of people to get nearer to the stage. Personally, I didn’t really feel like it because I didn’t have the energy na makipagsiksikan sa maraming tao or as we call it, go on Monica (from Friends) mode haha! So during the opening, which was Gab Valenciano’s prod number, we were pretty far from the stage. lol.

But after a while and a few favors from the YTFF crew, my tita, who was at the VIP section since she was part of the media, got us into the VIP section as well! But it was actually farther from the stage than the general admission section since I guess VIP was about being spacious rather than crowded. haha! Then, a staff member escorted us to somewhere nearer the stage, and that’s where we stayed the whole night!

AJ Rafael. Everyone sang along when he performed “We Could Happen.”

Tanner Patrick. My cousin and best friend kept saying that he looked like Taylor Swift. haha!

Mikey Bustos. He was so funny and so photogenic as well!

They played a video of Mikey Bustos letting Connor Franta try a famous Filipino dessert, halo-halo. I found it really funny when Mikey said that Connor was eating a piece of Barney when he was eating ube/purple yam. haha!

Everyone just went wild when Connor went to the stage, including me! He was actually the YouTuber that I was most looking forward to see that night. He was so freaking cute. ❤

Some lucky fans got to take a selfie with Connor!

There was also a quick Question and Answer for Connor Franta regarding basic knowledge about the Philippines. lol!

Tiffany Alvord.

Lloyd Cadena and Wengie.

The Filharmonic. Their voices are unreal!

Alex Wassabi with his brother and the hosts. They did a couple of dares, and they got so scared when they were dared to eat balut. HAHA!

They ate durian as well!

Abra. He was so photogenic. haha!

Bogart the Explorer. I realized how I have never seen him in any other clothes. He literally always looks the same! haha!

The YouTubers played a game of Charades/Pinoy Henyo.

Wengie was so cute!

Tyler Ward.

And before you know it, the venue was filled with confetti! I can’t find another word to describe this but “beautiful.”

There was an afterparty with a DJ and all after the show, but we didn’t bother to stay anymore. I actually tried looking for Say Tioco because I really wanted to take a picture with her. But I had no luck since the venue was just too big!

When I got home, that’s the only time I realized that I had such a good time and a solid night. When I was trying to sleep, I could still hear the loud music from YTFF and see the excited audience. Overall, YTFF Manila 2016 was one of the best things that happened this year so far.

I can’t wait for more moments like this.
